MY DRAWINGS
I never plan my drawings beforehand. I never know what will eventually appear on paper. I start with a small detail, and then I lose feeling of reality. I stop thinking, I stop realizing the time and the place, and I start seeing images. It's more or less like Buddhist meditation; it should be empty inside for my images to appear on another A3. At such moments, I don't feel, hear or see anything but shadows and their position on the paper. But when the work is finished, my sight becomes quite focused as usual.
When still drawing, I empathize with my characters. People who have watched me at work say that my countenance repeats those of my creatures. But when I look at the final result and very often don't recognize it. I rarely understand what I meant by drawing it. I am not attached to my creations, at times I'm even scared to look at them.
This certainly regards solely my graphic drawings. As for paid work, I have found myself quite capable of working in tighter frameworks, irrespective of how little freedom I'm granted by a client.
